Knocking is not too successful. Street contacting is better too because they can’t slam doors!

" if we are in need of help we must do whatever we can to get to Him because he can heal us." I think this may be good when  teaching investigators because it is not just 'Mormon' doctrine

I like that quote and will use it when I can.   It seems other people believe that Mormons believe in a different Jesus Christ. Many other Christian religions believe we are saved on faith alone. Mormons (we) believe that we are saved through faith AND good works. So they say  to me our Jesus is the wrong Jesus, so it may not work as well with all of our investigators. But it’s great and a good thought. Being on the mission lets you listen to all sides of different religions which also means that I have heard a lot of anti mormon stuff. Which I can say I can see why people believe what they do but it doesn’t affect me.  I know what I believe and I am not ashamed.  I have heard more anti stuff on my mission than my previous 19 years combined. It is crazy really. I just passed my three month mark which is kinda  kool. It reminds me of lacrosse with Tank. As long as I could finish those 12 laps or whatever and a million sprints then I knew I could finish practice. Same way with the mission. I finished three months so of course I can finish the other 21 months.  Some people might want to give up sometimes. Not me,It makes me stronger. I am glad Tank taught us to push forward and work hard. It is coming in handy out here.

I will answer your Q's now.

1. Is it raining a lot now?  Nope staying at a foggy mist in the moment

2.  Who are you teaching?  Jason’s cousin JD

3.  Do you knock doors all day every day? Not every day. Knocking is not too successful. Street contacting is better too because they can’t slam doors!

4.  When do you do your planning?  Every night

5.  What are Elder Hansen’s responsibilities as a leader?  He teaches in meetings with our district and reports.

6.  Any mail? None to my flat. Our ZL's say I had a ton of mail so I will find out later today

7.Did you get our package? Nope, not yet.

8. Have you been spending time with the folks from Africa? About a quarter or third of my ward is African. So yes.

9. What are you reading right now? 3rd Nephi- best book EVAH!!

10. Is the ward still taking good care of you as you put it?  How is your Bishop?  Yes. He is funny. He just jokes around all day.

11 Temple yet? No. I will probably go once a year maybe twice.

12.  What are you doing for Pday today? Just having a zone pday playing chair football

Onto the stretch of my email. No, transfers are next Monday. The AP's called asking if we have a lot of Chinese in our area -which we don’t- because they want to get the Chinese speaking elders near London. So I might end up with a Chinese elder. Which would stink because I would rather kill off elder Hansen. It really would stink to have a 6 week area as your last so I hope I am with him.

Well that’s good that everyone is doing well.  I am doing well as well.

Last pday we went bowling with elder Fingerle and his district. Fingerle was my best buddy in the MTC. So we got to catch up on things. He is doing really well. It’s official that I'm horrible at bowling by the way. I got like 3 games of getting 40 or so. Good thing I don’t go and take girls on bowling dates. Good thing I don’t date in the first place. Bowling will be the last place I will try to impress a girl.  We are having a zone pday today because its 2 elders last pday in our area so it’s going to be huge.

How is byu lax doing? Are they still with reebok?

We have our stake conference this Sunday and that will be great. It should be good.

I don’t know what more to email about because nothing has really changed. We were supposed to have three of our investigators at church but none showed up which was actually surprising. I am figuring out it’s harder to wake up at 6.30 on the mission than waking up at like 4.30 for lacrosse. It’s probably because I know if I wake up late I won’t have to run sprints until I die. HA! To be honest, Its definitely getting harder to wake up with the cold but I always remember what Bro. Warburton said,   “hitting the snooze makes you even more tired and its harder to get up after you hit snooze so just get out of bed.” So I just roll onto my knees  to pray and then all the way to the shower now. Croydon is great the ward is really cool and the people here are so interesting. I have never met so many Muslims in my life. And ironically enough they are the nicest to us.

We are starting to read a chapter a day of the BOM with Jason now. He loves to read with us. It is really great.

As far as exercising our flat only has like 20 pound dumbbells so I can’t really use those in my work out. It’s like I think maybe sister missionaries used to live here, or little noodle arms. I need like at least 5 times more weight to get any type of work out in but it’s all good.  I fear I won’t ever get a good work out on my mission apart from jump roping and pushups. I have officially lost my 8 pack, or 6 pack. It’s gone now so I can’t really remember what I had. I would be able to take on dad still so I’m not worried about that. Well here is a quote as I finish. I hear this one a lot.

"I like your Christ but I do not like your Christians, your Christians are nothing like your Christ" – Ghandi

We all have to do more to be like Christ not just believe in Him.

And one more

- You have Cat to be kitten me right meow!

Hello everyone!

So my investigator called the house?!! Which by the way I don’t know if he can’t call you but he insisted and I literally couldn’t say no to him... he is from Barbados so it’s impossible to say no to him. We are having Monday movie nights with him where we will watch a church movie with him and eat chicken and chips. Like we will probably watch the restoration tomorrow. He is well kool.   I sent his photo for you.
Morgan? Like Morgan Sandburg? Going on a mission?!! YES!!! tell him to email me. That’s well dope if he does his papers..... Ricky is married????? Ricky was kool until he got married. Haha!!! But whatever floats his boat or finds his remote or flips his 4 wheeler. (shoutout to Hayden. He will understand if he reads that.) Seriously though, that is kool for Ricky and Taylor. That’s good for Sam that he got his Eagle!!! Way to go Samwell. Bret should be coming next then. Get on it Bret.
Yea this week was good. It is starting to get well cold and stuff but it didn’t really rain too hard this week just a mist again.  The picture you sent me of the gloves aren’t the gloves that I got. And the gloves are a little big but whatever.  They are warm.  Thanks! The hat you sent me makes me look like a nerd but its okay. The socks are sooo cool I took a shower with them on and they really are like waterproof which is sick. Sorry, but you have to do the ten questions or else I am sure I  won’t answer them all. But here goes- I didn’t get to listen to all of conference yet. A member in our ward said he will copy them to a dvd for us to watch so I might be able to or maybe not. And that smart guy his name is D----- but he is already on holiday so we will have to wait til mid-November to see what happens. We went to a baptism on Saturday. It was our bishop’s kid. It was really good. I wore a great Britain Olympic tie and everyone loved it and then would ask if I was English and I would say no. Then they would ask where I was from and tell me I didn’t have an accent. I feel like I have my own accent now for sure. Everyone lately is bringing it up.  Haha. I still sound normal no accent really just mine own accent. The only British slang I can think of is bad words really. Because I always try not to say them because in the states they are fine to say but here they aren’t. Oh and  I think they do Halloween but I’m not sure. I’m pretty sure yes though. I hope I answered everything. I can’t really think of what to write because the days are all mushed together so I really have nothing to separate them. But we had kool stuff happen this week with our investigators J--- and   R--- and J-------..

In other news, I found the best place ever. It’s the street market. I can get like 8 pomegranates for a pound. But they aren’t really ripe yet so I will wait like 2-3 weeks until I buy all of them. Especially since I found out that elder Hansen never really liked or ate much fruit back at home so I am making him try all the fruit he has never tried.  He said he just never really liked it.   The fruit here is good. I need to find a scale quickly I’ve probably gained like 20 pounds. It’s awesome.

Getting the letters from the primary was very cool.  It made my day and I am glad that they took the time to write me.  I liked all their pictures and I hung a lot of them up at our flat.  The kids are awesome and maybe they can write to some of the kids I know here.

My bed is really bad here. It is like 10 times worse than the byu beds. My back hurts like every morning. I’m going to just start sleeping on the floor.   Studying is going well and I learn a lot but my mind wanders sometimes- but I do what I can do and study a lot. Currently I am reading Helaman.  I have learned a lot though.  Tell the Pattersons I ate fufu with my hands which was awesome complete African to eat with your hands. So now I don’t use utensils I just like my hands. The peanut butter sauce that goes on it is by far the best. I probably ate like 2 kilos of food. It’s crazy. They call me and African chief now that I eat with my hands. (This was all at mama V’s house. She is a good cook. and she will makes things spicy if I ask which is very nice of her.  It’s great. I got mail this week from Ali nooooooorda and Quincy. Ali's letter was good and so was Quincy's.  Q is still a nerd!!!! Hahahaha.  I will write them both back soon.  Oh well I’m outtro.. I’m going to be like the trees and leave....

I love you all- Joey

ps. You have Cat to be kitten me right meow!

Elder Lusk- Going home next week

AP White - Also leaving soon

AP Albrechtsen He is kool (with a k- he must be REALLY kool.)

I'm on a mission doing exactly what I want to be doing at this moment in time I'm having the time of my life

Ok, so that opener was sarcasm.  This is hard and this week was hard-

Here are your questions-

1. Is the baptism for Saturday on? Will it be you or Elder Hansen who baptized her? there is no baptism anymore

2. Where did you watch conference? Did you get to stay up very late to watch. the church

3. What did you think of the age change? I could have been out for a year by now!

4. Which talk was your favorite? I liked echo hawks talk.

5. Are you teaching any new people? nope not really

6. How are your Italians? Did you tell them about our family in Italy? I haven’t seen them in a while now

7. Did you get any letters this week? yea from my boiiii blake dowling

8. Did you mail that Picture card from your old camera? If not please mail it!! I will when I fill it up and i'll send it home with a package of assortments

9. Have you seen or heard from President Millar? no not really

10. Have you started working out? yea I work out every day. I am so yakkkked

11. Do you want the vitamin D? nahhh not yet

This conference weekend was a letdown kinda. I always heard how much elders love conference week and we did nothing. Our zone leaders said that we had to stay in Croydon and we only watched Saturday nights and Sunday mornings sessions which were all on Sunday for us. Priesthood session wouldn’t work via internet for us so we missed that. Saturday we went out to the Samoan/Australian/new Zealand family that elder Hansen knows. They were well kool.  They had like a little party and stuff which was really fun plus we ate a ton of awesome food. They were all well nice and super ridiculously interested in the fact that I’m from Las Vegas. Everyone just kept asking me a ton of questions about how I grew up and stuff. It was a lot of fun. I swear elder Holland’s talk was like well similar to one that I heard in the mtc. It was just touched up with a little bit more. Either way it was good to hear it again. This whole week was a downer. Everyone cancelled on us basically. It was decided not to go through with the baptism because it wasn’t important to her at all and she didn’t understand anything. Since then she has flogged us like 20 times. The Italian family flogged us twice. It was rough. One bright spot though was we met with this guy named Dominic who referred himself to us. He went to college and studied the bible so the guy knows his stuff. Anyways he made a list of everything that a church should have according to the bible, and he ended up throwing it away because  “it resembled the Mormon church too closely” Then a month later he decided that he would do it again and he came up with the same result so he decided to learn more. The guy knows more stuff than anyone I have ever met. Think of like a non baptised Todd Moody mixed with Bruce and dad. The guy has read the bible like 50 times like he straight up quotes scriptures. I read from Corinthians and he started reciting it with me without a bible. He has read the book of Mormon, d&c, pearl of great price, Joseph Smith discourses, Brigham Young discourses, and has watched the past like 5 conferences. So he knows a lot more than I do that’s for sure. He also works for the biggest accounting company in England so the guy is well off. I mentioned Bednar and he was like ' oh I love that man he has the best talks I have ever heard.' So he basically taught us when we met with him. He ended up saying that he will be on holiday until middle of November and the reason he won’t get baptised right now is because he doesn’t want to miss church 6 weeks in a row. The guy is great and his wife is interested as well so they read the BOM together every day. He is like the perfect investigator. He even taught us basically how to bash. Apparently he went and researched all this anti stuff and just disproved it and would counter with why our church is right. He knows a lot--- let’s leave it at that. By the way cd's are the way to get music to me or a usb drive. We have a tiny little disc reader/dvd player with a usb joint in it. How is Hayden liking everything? And how is Provo for him? Heard he does well in lax. Tell him I have a ton of stringing stuff in a drawstring bag and also in a box. The bag might be in my room and the box is in the corner of the movie room. He and Sam and Bret can have anything as long as it’s for themselves. I know Bret likes to just give away stuff to his friends but don’t let him. It’s too expensive for people who don’t care about it or take care of it. Also, you didn’t need to spend that much because I don’t need water proof socks. The gloves will be helpful though so thank you much . The age thing with elders was like a blessing and curse for me. Because I see that I could have been out for like a year now but at the same time I may not have come out then, and  may have not came out on a mission if I felt like I was past the age, you know. Anyways i just feel like all the boys will get pressured to go at 18 when I feel like it’s more important to establish a base in the Gospel and for school first. It might work for byu but if a kid doesn’t want to go to byu then he is messed up because he will be an old freshman. . Also I wonder how recruiting is going to work out now for like byu lax. It will be interesting none the less. As conference came to an end I was thinking of where I was a year and I remembered I was having the time of my life with like 5 girls making me food to watch conference with Madi, Lauren, Mace ,Kayla and Annie.... and all the DKINGZ of course. Time went by so fast and looking at it this way I will only get to see 3 other conferences on my mission.

Apparently I have an unheard of accent now. Everyone always asks where I’m from and I say Vegas and they’re like weird you don’t sound like you’re from the states. But they can never tell me where I sound like I’m from. I have my own accent! I went on exchanges this week and this time I went up to Welling and did some stuff with my ZL- it was fun. I also went on a 2 hour exchange with elder Schmoekel. He was up at byu and came out 6 weeks earlier. Both were a lot of fun... I’ll send some pictures maybe later. Anyway I am  outtro.

Joey- love you all

Weekly cat

In a car!

Elder Schmoekel
Joey's letter to his Dad this week-

HAhahahahahHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!!!! Greenbay blows now... just back to old ways Aaron Rodgers is the next Brett Favre.... while classic Tom Brady is still Tom Brady.... Patriots are the best.... we will have members record conference for us so we can watch the ones we missed. Especially priesthood. Conference was good. Probably the first time I stayed awake.... Echo Hawk is cool. the story of the fake letter... apparently the professional that uncovered the truth of it was president Shamo the MP who was before Millar... so all the missionaries are raving about it.... it’s sad that people would leave over a fake letter... they were just looking for an excuse to leave anyways... Jesus gave strong doctrine to weed out the weak disciples. Do you get unlv basketball tickets? I guess they are going to be really good this year... like natty champ good again.

Sidewalk chalk

Helllllloooooooo, Anyways I do know elder Keller. He was elder Sparks trainer and then sparks moved up to my zone. I heard he is well kool. He has been down in Helston for his whole time... like 8 months or something crazy. I had to give a little talk at this 8 year old girl’s baptism. I just talked about when Jesus got baptized and how that was one of the only times God verbally told Jesus well done. So I basically said everyone is telling her well done. At church it was just the primary stuff where they all talk and sing and stuff. So we didn’t really do anything at church. We were supposed to have 4 investigators come to church but only 1 showed up. His name is Ross and he is 19, he is well dope. He comes to whatever we ask him to come to. It basically misted all day this whole week except for Saturday. This week was a lot of fun except we got flogged for almost every teach we set up. We found this chalk rock on the ground and wrote on the street and started to walk away and some guy yelled at us calling us vandals but was just joking and started to ask us questions about the site and our religion so that was cool. It probably washed away by now because of the rain. We had like no DAs this week which was the first time I haven’t had a DA on my mission which was well weird. But me and Hansen stocked up on food. We basically eat fried rice and bacon pasta (thanks for teaching me to make that)all the time. I am getting well fat for sure on my mission. Which is crazy because we walk all over the place. But it is true missionaries get blessed with like 20 stomachs. I can eat for dayzzz! I would most def beat dad in any eating contest he would choose. Me and Hansen are going to have to start running especially since he is going home soon. I think I’m way out of shape now though. I had to run to catch a bus and I was like dying trying to catch my breath. But you can tell my coaches I’m still zippy though. Tell dad I can get him an unlocked galaxy note for 300 pounds. So I could buy it and send it home but he would just need to supply me with the cash. So if he started to hate his s3 yet then he has another option. I think I’m way intimidating because the street preachers don’t even try to talk to us. When we pass them they just shuttup. It’s pretty funny actually. Sister Bertha is well awesome. I got like 3 dear elders from her but please tell her I can’t respond that often because of the missionary budget but keep writing!!!. You better send mail to Andrew. I wrote him but post takes a month to get to him from me and vice versa... Brazilians. I realised that while I was writing to Meagan I need to have better penmanship. So I decided to take up practicing cursive. I feel more intelligent writing that way. That’s well kool for Millie. Austin is a really good kid. It’s good Jenna finally won and that Bret the nerd is on the chess club.ha-ha I’m sure he can talk with dad for dayz about chess and math now..... Nerds. This family from Spain loves me, I can’t understand them at all because they only speak Spanish but we use google translate. They found out that I’m Italian so they love me because they’re Italians. Which reminds me where is my blood from like what cities in Italy. They want to know so bad because the wife says I look really Italian and they are just fascinated with me ha-ha. Her family is from Sicily and the husband’s family is from Naples. But anyways they want to know really bad... like really really bad. We get a lot of referrals in Croydon which is good because it keeps us really busy. Sending real letters is a lot so email is better for family mom. I just got your email. But I am going to send home a package of vimto and galaxy and stuff so find out if Todd or Bruce want anything. Anyways Joey- love you all

1. How is the girl for baptism? Aneidi, and she flogged us everyday so we didn’t see her.

2. What is her name? Aneidi

3. How are the Italians? Alessandra, and she is good

4. How is Elder Hanson doing? great

5. It looked like it warmed up this week a bit. Did it? ehhh no

6. Ok so as far as sending you stuff- Do you want me to mail a packageof things? I emailed you what I could use, thanks.

7. Have you heard from any other Elders from your days at BYU? Yes, Chase, Taylor Taylor, Max, Reed, Beau, Blake

8. Any new foods? nope

9. What did you do at church this week? Teaching primary? just church and sharing time/singing time

10. Still reading Corinthians? I read EVERYTHING
